A Mother's Love

Here are my boys.... And here is Xander who found his thumb today.... There is nothing like the love of a child.....

If You Pray...

My dear friend lost her nephew. I do not personally know the parents that well, but I do know other family members along with my sweetest friend. Please keep the family in your prayers... Our head Pastor wrote a blog post about it and I will simply link to it. I have no other words. When Words Have No Meaning And hug your kids again today.....

Embrace The Day

If you have kids, take a moment to hug them today. A few times. If you are married, tell your spouse you love them and hug them as well. Call, e-mail family and friends to let them know you love them. You never know what tomorrow may bring. Embrace today. Love like there is no tomorrow....

What Love Is

I was reading today in the book Lies Women Believe and the Truth That Sets Them Free. It is the book I am currently reading for a book club. It is a Christian read. I am not going to list all the lies so far that I have ever believed. Suffice it to say I find that 90% of them I have believed at some point. The other 10%? I am sure I will believe some day. Today I was reading in the chapter, Lies Women Believe About Marriage. Ahh, what a fun topic. Marriage is hard. Anyway, I was reading along nodding my head and "uh-huhing" along with all these things. (the lies people, not the truths.) When I came to lie #26 Sometimes divorce is a better option than staying in a bad marriage. Now, I am not saying that I believe this today. I was reading and seeing what I could learn in the section when this sentence jumped out at me. "We can not love another human being perfectly on our own. But God can love anyone through us, if we are willing to let Him. Love is n

Xander, My How You Have Grown!

Here you go. A month by month comparison of our boy. This is Xander in his bouncy seat. Xander and the big kids days after coming home. Xander in December napping in the seat. Xander today, almost too big for the seat. And for good measure, Xander smiling at his sister today sitting up in his seat. Look at those eyes and eyelashes.....he is going to be trouble! I promise all the boy has eaten is breast milk and some formula on occasion. Nothing else. So far is seems he is going to beat his big brother in size as well.....

If All Is Not Lost.......Can We At Least Stop Time?

This is what time does. It makes your kids grow up. The picture I use on this page was taken almost two years ago in Costa Rica. I am sure I have mentioned that somewhere on this blog before. Emma was five and Davis was two. There was something about the way the two of them sat looking out Tia Laura's back door. They did that just about every morning while we were there. It was beautiful. The weather was warm and the breeze would blow right through the house, from the open front door to the open back door. You could see Tia's fruit trees out back and since it was green season everything was lush and green. Just stunning. So the kids would sit and look out on the yard and I think dream about living in that very place. They are one quarter Costa Rican. It is in their blood. I can't blame them. (please notice the empty spot next to Davis.....that is for Xander) The picture below was taken this morning. The kids were playing Super Mario Brothers on the old s

Things I Learned Today

One: Your child is really sick when they ASK to go to the doctor. As in, "Please take me to the doctor." Sad. Two: One way to get everything in your house clean is to have someone pee or puke on it. Everything in this house has been freshly laundered. Three: I got a copy of Working Mother in the mail today. Ironic. It is for moms who work out of the home. Yet I do not think I have ever worked harder in my life since staying at home. I AM a working mother. I just do not get a paycheck at the end of two weeks. And besides, why in the world did I get a copy of this magazine? I sure as hell did not order it. Back to your regularly scheduled programs........

A Day In Our House...

Davis has the flu. As in the actual ,real, we swabbed your boogers and it came back positive flu. He is on Tamiflu. Hopefully he does not vomit it up. Poor little guy has been miserable the last day. Not eating and only lying on the couch, wrapped in a blanket with a cold washcloth on his head. I think he smells too. Between being super hot, wet washcloth head and no bath since Saturday, the boy is ripe. Ah well. I let him rest and will wash him when he feels up to it. The reason he even got looked at is because Xander had his well baby check today too. That boy is almost off the charts in length. *I* have a child that sits in the 97% for his height. No wonder the infant car seat seemed too small for him. He is weighing in at 13 pounds 4 ounces. So he is actually tall and skinny. Must get it from his dad. That poor little guy has had to be moved to his big boy car seat. Which means he has to get a blanket thrown over him as we go to and from places. Poor kid is fre

Kicking It Old School

Xander is three months old now. And he likes to kick it old school.....(yes that is a regular prefold diaper pinned on the boy, I realize I may need help.)
