Another Year Gone

Today is the day my oldest son turns five years old. I am not sure where the years went..... My Boogie, You bless me each and every day with your love of life. Your enthusiasm and your imagination never cease to amaze me. Your love of music and your ability to be reached through music is inspiring. Your energy is endless. Your love knows no bounds. You were given to me for a short time by our Heavenly Father. I was entrusted to care for you, love you, and guide you. I was given this honor and an honor it is. You touch people by your very existence. For the last five years you have graced me with your humor and your love. I am watching you grow into a young man. One who told me the other day that when he can drive, he will borrow my car and take me out on a date. I am holding you to that. One who loves with no end in sight. My Boogie, thank you. For being you and allowing me to be your mommy. I will love you until the end of time. And for always, you will be my baby, my Boogie, my son.

The Boy Turns Four

Four years ago I was sitting in the hospital holding my new son. He was just a tiny new baby, only one day old. I will never forget hearing the doctor say, "You have a big, healthy boy!" That was four years ago. Now he is a young boy, making me crazy and making me feel so much love all at the same time. He has grown in countless ways. Tested limits and done things that cause me to say, "What in the world would possess you to do such a thing?" He has an imagination and an orneriness that keeps me on my toes at all times. He has a zeal for life that I can not help but soak up. He is animated and loving. He is really just a lot of fun. Tiring, but fun. I have pictures from my boy's fourth birthday. This year he had a Thomas cake. Mark baked the cake and made the icing for me. As well as "building" the cake. I decorated it. He has gotten so big. Happy Birthday my boy......my baby.....for now and always.

Davis and His Baggie Part Two

Here is a picture of Davis and his baggie. I apologize as it was taken with a camera phone and well........it is not so great. But this is how Davis drags his baggie behind him every time we leave the house. It is purple. And he loves it. A lot.

Davis and His Baggie

Anyone remember Linus and his blanket? He dragged it everywhere. If you watched the Peanuts (You know Charlie Brown) you remember Linus and his silly blanket. Neither of my kids had lovies really. They both used binkies and gave them up at three for Emma and two and a half for Davis. They went though stages (still do) liking certain things and only wanting to play with or watch those things. They never really latched onto one thing so much though that is caused them to have a nervous break down if they could not find it. Until now. Davis discovered a small backpack the other day. It is a mini one, much like the one we have used for some time as his diaper bag. Yes I am aware that he is over three and should be using the toilet. I do not care to discuss that right now. We have used this bag to carry a change of clothes, diapers, wipes, snacks, whatever we need for the outing. The one we use is light gray. The one Davis found was new and purple. We dubbed this HIS baggie. ...

Davis Channelled Picasso

What am I supposed to do with my son? I think today we will look for door locks. Seems the child can get into everything and he will. Today he found Emma's paints. Davis however, abhors painting on paper. Her prefers house painting. Or body painting. the face of remorse......I am so sorry I accidentally painted all over everything. the face of hidden glee.......But it was really fun while it lasted. the face of I need a bath.......again Luckily it was the kind of paint that cleans up with soap and water so it was easy to clean up. Off the floor. Off his bed. Off the fridge. Off the wall. Off the door. Off of Davis. Why did I think another one was a good idea?????

Eating My Words

Davis was up way too early this morning. I knew he would likely take a nap today. I did not, however, think he would put himself to bed. Which is what he did. I thought he was being quiet in his room and when I went to check on him this is what I found.... And while Emma's camera may not take the greatest pictures, it is more fun. You can put Disney characters in the picture with you or Mickey ears or a princess crown on your head. So while I do want a new "grown-up" camera, how fun is that?

Sweet Dreams

The boy can not get up as early as Emma. If he does, he passes out at some point in the day. Yesterday, he feel asleep in only his diaper, after finishing off his Spaghetti O's. I covered him with a nice warm blanket and let him snooze. Such sweetness in him....

Three Years Passed

Davis had his third birthday. It came complete with a Lightning McQueen cake as I had promised and my boy said it was beautiful. And at the end of the day that is all that really matters. His birthday was Saturday but we did a little family gathering Sunday. My sister (in-law) helped me decorate just a bit for the party and when Davis got up Sunday morning he really understood what it meant. We were having a birthday party! And he was excited! Here are a few pictures from the party. The Lightning McQueen cake Cupcakes that I bought already made. I know, shame on me. But after the cake, I was wiped. I did put the little picks in them though. Davis excited about the cake and candles. Davis telling his Nanny (my mom) about the party and cake and who knows what else. Davis blowing out the candles on his cake.

Through The Years

Tomorrow my baby boy will turn three. I am not sure where the time went. Three....now if I could only get him to use the toilet we would be set. Davis at one.... Davis at two.... Davis at three... You are getting big Boogie. But you will always be my baby boy. I love you.

Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are....

Last night I could hear Davis in Emma's room. Knowing it was time to go to bed I went in to get him. I could hear him, but I could not find him anywhere. Maybe this is why... Who knew? And what a smart boy. Not only was he IN the toy chest so he could not be found, but he had a pillow and a blanket as well.

The Boogie

This is the boy yesterday. He needs a haircut so he is waking up with bed head. And he had some chocolate ice cream. He was getting ready to take a bath. So, he was nekkid, bed head, and chocolate faced. Perfect photo op, right? *And for those who are wondering, yes this was posted at 5:40 ish today. We have been up since four, thankyouvermuch. *

What Is It With Boys???

My son, is well, different. I will let these two photos speak for themselves. This is Davis the other day. He asked for dog treats and as usual he went in and shared them with the dog. If you look closely you will see that he has a red thing in his mouth. That is a dog treat. As in a treat for real dogs. Davis eats them. The treats, not the dogs. This is Davis today. He refuses to use the potty. Yet he wants his diaper changed immediately or changes it himself. Or he sticks his hand in the poop in his diaper and pulls his finger out letting you know that he does indeed have poop in there. I bought him Cars underwear hoping that maybe he would be persuaded to use the potty. Davis had a different idea of where underwear go..... Oh that boy.....

One Man Band

Davis likes to play the drums. I love the mess and the noise. Really, I do.

Memories

Quick post today. Emma is having growing pains. At least that is what I think they are and she is in some pain. I am waiting for the doctor to give me a call back now. Here is Davis looking at a photo album of pictures of himself. Yes that picture of the baby in the album is of my boy from two years ago. Sad, isn't it?

Old School

I let my kids play video games. Not only that, but they get to play with guns to play said video games. On the old Nintendo. The one from the 1980's. My kids love it. Davis has taken a liking to playing Duck Hunt. I do not think the game (or maybe the gun) works anymore because it seems you can not kill the ducks no matter how hard you try. But Davis loves to take hold of the gun and shoot away. Both of the kid like to sit on the TABLE to play the video games as well. The other night, Emma had already fallen asleep and Mark was out of town (AGAIN) so it was just me and my boy still up. He went over and turned on the game and I let him play for a bit. I also captured his love of killing ducks on film. Or I guess it would be digital camera now. Please no commenting on the fact that I let my kids play this. Look at his face? Could you say no? *I will say that the look of pure glee as he clutches the gun in this photo is possibly a bit alarming.....*

My Baby Boy and Me

Last night the boy and I were sitting on the floor looking at the picture in the camera. He would see himself and laugh this fake, crazy laugh. It was beyond funny. So we took a few more pictures of ourselves. Then Davis took his first ever pictures of your dog Max. Here are a few of our fun adventures from last night. It is great that we are so easily entertained.... Davis up close and personal. This one made him laugh the hardest. My baby boy and me (excuse my look.....long day) Max as seen by Davis Time for quiet hours like this with him cuddled in my arms, Where I wish he'd always stay, protected, safe and warm. And yet I know the day will come when his tiny hand, Will be bigger than my own; he'll grow to be a man. But until then he's mine to love with no one here to see, As we rock slowly back and forth My baby boy and me.

The Boy Sleeps

He has the most beautiful eyes and the longest eyelashes. He is crazy and full of energy when he is awake. Then he rests and looks like a little angel. With his arm up by his head......Such sweetness. Sleep well my prince. One day you will no longer be my little baby. You will be a grown man. Possibly have children of your own. But we will always have this time. This time when you were my little guy and I was your everything. And truthfully, you will always be my baby. No matter what.

Mmmm.......Mmmm.....Good

I was making a cake for my mom's birthday the other day. Davis noticed that it seemed to be chocolate. Maybe he could smell it. So, being the great mom that I am, once the cake was mixed and poured into the cake pan, I handed Davis the mixing bowl. At first he just looked at me and said, "Yum, chocolate." and looked into the bowl. I showed him how to stick his chubby little finger in to swipe the sides and get that cake batter on your finger. Then you lick your finger. It only took one demonstration and he had it. Off he went with his chocolate cake batter. Now I give you, Davis's first experience licking the bowl. Cool. Mom gave me this bowl of chocolate and said I can use my fingers and eat it. First you take your finger and swipe it along the edge of the bowl.... Then you lick your finger. Yummy goodness is all mine. Davis did somehow get that cake batter not only all over his face and arms and hands, but also all over his legs. He took a bath afterward. But he did...

Like Father, Like Daughter

When Emmaline was born it was obvious who she looked like. It took me some time to be okay with that. I mean, I was the one who carried her and gave birth to her. It was like a slap in the face that she looked just like her dad. But as she got older it became more and more apparent that she looked like her dad. Had I not been the one pregnant with her, I would question whether or not she was even mine. Just in case you do not believe me, here is a picture of the girl with her Papi. (this picture is from Christmas 2005, it is hard to find pictures of Mark in general....) So, I gave up long ago realizing that Emmaline was just going to look a lot like her Papi. Now, she acted a lot like me. Her personality is a lot like mine. She is loud and she never shuts up. She does not stop ever and she is beyond sassy. A lot like her mama. However, her ability to memorize and learn comes also from her dad. This became even more apparent today during Day Two of school. We have a Bible course. It is ...
