One Year Ago Today

One year ago today I met someone for the very first time. I had no idea how profoundly he would change my life. Nor how he would change Emmaline. Or Davis. Or Mark.

I had no idea what meeting him would mean for my family. What he would symbolize for years to come. I had no idea that my heart would grow even more.

One year ago today, someone laid a tiny little being right up next to my face. And that is when I first laid eyes on Alexander Gabriel. It was a moment in time that I wished would last forever.

You were born a big boy and you continued to grow with each passing day. We celebrated your first Thanksgiving and Christmas when you were only a few weeks old. Too tiny to know what we were doing. But a blessing to all of us none the less.

Winter came and you smiled at us. You began to sit up. You took in the world around you. We watched your big eyes soak up life. You showed us that life was beautiful.

Spring came breezing in. We had your first Easter. You got some teeth and let us know that food was something that you truly enjoyed. Little stinker, you can put away some food!

Summer hit and you began to crawl for us. Soon you were pulling yourself up to stand and before we knew it you were into....everything! And you discovered how much you like to be outside and swing.

With the cool fall weather we celebrated Halloween and began to prepare for your first birthday. (as we also waited with baited breath the election for the next leader of our country.)

Watching you over the last twelve months has been a pleasure and a joy. You have learned so much and grown so much. But more than that is what you have taught all of us.

Xan, you have given us far more than we have given you. You have taught us far more than we have taught you. The gift of your love is amazing. You, my son, are amazing.

To my Alexander, my Tigger, you have blessed us beyond all measure. We are so very grateful for each day we have with you. You bring joy to our lives, our hearts, and our home.

Happy Birthday Xander. Mama loves you.

Xan

I'll Do It Better In My Next Thirty years

Today is doomsday. At 9:05 a.m on this very day thirty years ago my mother gave birth to me. I have done the "Holy crap, where did the years go?" I have done the "When did *I* get so freaking old?" I have cried and been mad and upset. I have looked at my life and realized it was NOT what I thought it would be at thirty. In both good and bad ways. I have run the gamut, so to speak and frankly now I am worn completely out. I am done. I went through getting old sucks . I spent time reminiscing about Swatch watches from back in the day. I have shed tears over my babies not being babies anymore . I tired to stop thirty from coming and realized that it was inevitable. I even got my friends to realize that we are indeed getting old. So today, as I move on in life and have to start checking a new box on forms, I still stand by my very first post on getting older. I think Tim McGraw has it right. My Next Thirty Years I think I'll take a moment, celebrate my age The en...

It Is Official...

I am now officially a participant in the NaBloPoMo . What is this you ask? It is an alternative to National Novel Writing Month, otherwise known as, NaNoWriMo . The goal of NaNoWriMo is to write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November. Since I lack focus, which some like to call adult ADD, there is no way I could do that. So, enter NaBloPoMo. Besides sounding funnier, it is a much more doable thing for me. The goal of this? Post an entry to my blog every day for the entire month of November. You heard it folks. You will be blessed with some random something from me EVERY DAY for the ENTIRE month of November. I am even on the Official List. I am, really. You can go look. Now you may be asking yourself how you got so lucky. And I can not give you the answer to that. All I can say is that you can look forward to me rambling about basically nothing for the whole month. So sit back and enjoy the ride. Now, if I could only figure out how the hell to put up my button and get it to hy...
