Why I Homeschool and Other Random Thoughts

In all honesty, some days I have no clue.

Materials are gathered. In opting to strike out more on your own and go the eclectic route, it takes more time. So far we are doing well. English, Math and History have been secured for Emma. I did opt to go with an all in one program for Davis for preschool. Yes people. I am now home schooling both kids. Yes I am crazy. Possibly certifiable.

Xander is still not sleeping through the night. He is only waking once usually though. He nurses and goes right back to sleep. He has four teeth now and is eating solids well. I will not divulge how often he still nurses. It is our secret.

The big kids are set and ready to begin school hopefully in mid to late August. The materials I have ordered are on their way to me. We bought school supplies yesterday. Here is hoping I can keep Davis interested.

Nothing else new to report. Other than the lady at Wal-Mart asked me yesterday if I was pregnant again. I almost choked her. I am back to my pre pregnancy weight, I must be carrying it differently. I do feel bloated a lot of the time. But sheesh. Talk about a nasty blow to your ego. I was not even wearing anything that seemed tight. Guess I looked worse than I thought. Good to know?

I have other thoughts floating around. I will get around to posting at some point.

Well, Turner is 27 months, and just a few days ago (I meant to write it down, but forgot) he slept from 9:30 p.m. - 7 a.m. For the first time. He did it again last night, until 6 a.m. So Xander's doing pretty well compared to my crazy boys.

Homeschooling - planning on it with the boys. And I'm already stressing and feeling insane. Not doing any formal preschool, but my mom is already asking, "When are you going to start homeschooling Guthrie?" Which is weird, since he wouldn't start K until next year, and no one else in the family until this generation has ever done preschool.

I can't imagine making it work with a baby! Maybe you are insane. :P

Sometimes There Are No Words

Last night I met a new friend. Let me preface this by saying I have made exactly ONE new friend in the last ten years. This makes number two. My Babycenter and Blogging friend Amanda , was having a conference in KC. We made plans to meet up. I felt a bit odd. Here I was making plans to meet someone I only knew from the Net. But Mark thought it was perfectly great and even said for me to stay out as long as I wanted. He said it was not as if I was meeting up with someone I saw often. Stay out and talk and have fun. So I did. I made plans to meet with Amanda. I knew we had a lot in common. Both from the board and from reading her blog. I knew she was someone who if she lived closer to me we could hang out. But I was a bit apprehensive. Here was someone who only knew me through the computer. So many what if's , right? Mark was actually the one who said I should meet with her, if only for a little while. So, I picked Amanda up at her hotel and off we went to Fooleries. Great place to ...

And Just Like That.....

I made the fatal mistake of reading reviews and articles before watching a single episode of the show.  I knew full well I would watch every episode regardless.  I read anyway.  Spoilers? Not bothered.   Let me give some back story here.   At 17/18 my dream had been to go to a big city (Chicago was my thinking at the time), get my degree in journalism/editing/publishing and go work at a big time magazine.  Keep in mind we are talking about the mid 90's here so the idea that magazines would cease to be relevant was not even on my radar.  I had been editor of my high school yearbook and unbeknownst to me at the time, we were actually doing the yearbook by coding and would get printouts hoping we had coded copy correctly.  I just typed the copy I was supposed to type with the weird little codes that had been given to me on a piece of paper.  I would later discover this was actually HTML code we were doing.  Who knew?  This fu...
